Please help us
prepare…………. Although we do not have a Bishop assigned to Juneau yet, when the phone rings it could happen very quickly. In order to be prepared for that time the Diocese would like to have preparations in place for his installation. We do know that circumstances can change between now and then but these lists will give us a step up in the process. We need to prepare a list of people willing to provide a bedroom or bedrooms to individuals and/or couples. We will also need people willing to provide transportation. If you are willing to add your name to either list, please call Robbie @ 586-2227 ext 25.
Alaskans For Life would like to bring to your attention the article in Wednesday, June 4th Empire. Planned Parenthood wants a reproduction health clinic (i.e. abortion mill) in Juneau. They have tried before. The community (you) have turned them away. We need to do it again. Tell your friends, go blogging on the net, send letters to the editor and again raise our community conscience against the evils of abortion. If you have questions or suggestion call 789-5910
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) The RCIA Process will resume on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 7:00PM in the Valley Senior Center, located at 9055 Atlin Drive. All adults desiring to participate in the RCIA Process are invited to attend. Subsequent classes will be conducted weekly each Wednesday at 7:00PM. The RCIA process runs in stages from August through the Easter season of the following year and is intended for: 1. Those who have never been baptized and would like to investigate what the Catholic faith is all about. 2. Those who have been baptized in a non-Catholic Christian tradition and would like to come and learn what the Catholic community believes and see if they would like to belong. 3. Catholics who were baptized but never brought up in the faith and would like to get back to their roots and prepare themselves for the other sacraments of initiation: Eucharist and Confirmation. STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time—weekend of August 9/10 Maintaining good stewardship over our faith life can, at times, be difficult. When Peter became distracted and took his eyes off Jesus, his faith faltered. How many times do we get distracted and let our stewardship of faith slip? How many times do we harbor doubts about Jesus as Peter did? To have doubts about our faith is natural and can be very healthy. Doubts can motivate us to search for answers, thereby deepening our relationship with the Lord and keeping faith awake, vibrant and strong. It has been said that if we have not doubted, then we really never step out in faith. And as our faith grows stronger, we in turn can stretch out our hands to catch others when they falter.
