Fairbanks - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics announced today that head hockey coach Guy Gadowsky has been suspended from coaching the Nanooks for one game due to an incident that occurred in last Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Miami RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio.
Gadowsky is forced to sit out Friday's UAF home game vs. Ferris State this weekend as a result of contesting the performance of CCHA official Steve McInchak. Gadowsky approached McInchak after the Nanooks had suffered the heartbreaking loss to the RedHawks. Visibly upset with the officiating, Gadowsky confronted McInchak on the ice and in the hallway.
"I do not apologize for standing up for the team," said Gadowsky. "I do, however, apologize for the manner in which I handled the situation."
Gadowsky will return to the UAF bench for Saturday's contest vs. Ferris State. Game times for both games this weekend are 7:00 p.m.
