Fairbanks - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics has learned today that U.S. College Hockey Online has announced that UAF Hockey player Ryan Reinheller is one of fifteen nominees for the fourth annual Hockey Humanitarian Award.
The Hockey Humanitarian Award, presented to "college hockey's finest citizen," honors scholarship, good character and service to the community. Last year the award went to Wisconsin's Erik Raygor, and before that to Michigan's Blake Sloan and Boston University's J.P. McKersie.
"Ryan Reinheller epitomizes what a student athlete should be," said UAF Coach Dave Laurion. "His contribution to society, especially with the under privileged, is truly noteworthy. As a role model for today's youth, Ryan has few equals."
