And as Dave Donaldson reports, much of it was similar to issues the legislature has already put on its agenda. Governor Knowles credited a favorable business climate for a renewed interest in Alaska by developers during the past year. He cited increased investment by the oil industry, progress on development of a natural gas pipeline, and a boom in the mining industry. But he also reminded lawmakers that along with the development, comes a responsibility. # Tony Knowles announced some of his priorities for the coming year -- A package of business incentives, recapturing the international salmon market, and focussing on value-added processing for the timber industry.
