Ketchikan's Educational Challenges

 

  • Ensuring that all of Ketchikan's children are prepared to pass the Alaska State Competency exam and graduate with the academic skills needed to succeed in adult life;
  • Having a clear and concise plan of identification, prevention and intervention for our children who are experiencing academic difficulties;
  • Ensuring that we have one of the lowest drop-out rates in the State and not one of the highest;
  • Establishing and maintaining safe and drug free schools;
  • Providing educational opportunities that appropriately challenge all children including Ketchikan's brightest;
  • Providing a diverse program and class selection at the high school and furthering alliances with the UAS Ketchikan campus and the business community.
