As the analytical data for each phase of sampling began to pour in, they were compared to other similar studies that had been conducted previously.  Scientists reviewed three other studies and compared the results of these studies to the results of the Annette Islands Seafood Study.  Of particular interest were ambient levels of contaminants, including PCBs, pesticides, and PAHs, in areas considered to represent background conditions (away from contamination sources).

Contaminant levels from the Annette Islands Seafood Study are similar to, and in many cases lower than, the contaminant levels in comparable studies.
