Net'd By Night

Chapter 6...Snow Bright

It has been long coming... the white of winter. I look into the light of it, blue hues chasing the grey. The journey has been difficult and now I am home again. I feel cuddled and warm and hold the magic to me, feeling it's neglect, scrubbing the dust, changing the scent of the air to winter pine and company. I look at the way it sits and I feel the urge to place it in a softer light. Each page wrapped as a gift. Tie the ribbon of December.

I write now these thoughts that follow my heart, knowing I will continue with the tasks of learning, accepting time missed as happenstance of character added to the soup. My eyes have cleared from mists that held me. I will travel this new road. I drop hints of the past behind me as I go and they sink into yesterday, no longer part of my need. I look forward to the decoration, the small additions, the singing on high.

The boy continually reaches to me as though I may disappear. I find him studying me when he thinks I'm not looking. It will take time to let him feel the magic anew. He speaks to me like I was never away and this I take for granted, but I find his hand and pull him onto this new road. Slowly we climb the side of a mountain, step by step. The road is rough and narrow and we avoid the edges. We will continue to climb, perhaps never reaching the top, never seeing further than the next step. We make our magic and hand in hand we look forward to the change of scenery.

The quest continues...
