Mythos Expeditions Kodiak--F/V Mythos--thewildcoast.comDesigned and built by Harold Hansen specifically for the commercial salmon fishery in the Gulf of Alaska coastal waters, the Mythos still earns her living part of the year catching her share of the abundant stocks of cod and halibut around Kodiak Island. While July is reserved for her commercial fishing activities, for most of the rest of the year, Dave converts the Mythos to haul adventurers to the less known wonders of the Kodiak region by adding her central cabin, oiling up her teak, and scrubbing her from stem to stern. Hearty visitors, young families with kids, fishing buddies, couples on tour, or old friends who travel together every season join us for unique adventures along the Kodiak and Katmai coasts.

Dave converts the Mythos to haul adventurers of
all ages to the less known wonders of southwest Alaska by adding her
central cabin, oiling up her teak, and scrubbing her from stem to stern.
|
The Mythos was specifically designed to be able
to go dry with the falling tide and we sometimes go in close and after
the tide goes out, walk right to the pools to cast our flies for coho
salmon.

While by no means a cruise ship, the Mythos does
provide all the amenities. Three separate living spaces on the Mythos
sleep up to six passengers in any of four vee berths forward, one in
the main cabin, and two in the private hatch cabin. The capt. and crew
sleep in the tophouse.
|
A sheltered after deck provides lots of space for
lounging, fishing, preping kayaks, storing raingear, etc.
During the day the tophouse provides excellent sheltered viewing of the natural beauty that is Kodiak and Katmai. |

Teak and formica make the perfect interior for a boat that works for a living. With polished chrome and brass accents, kept "ship shape and Bristol fashion," the Mythos is the perfect setting for adventure. Her diesel 6KW genset aft in the stern provides for electric hot water, a powerful outdoor lighting system, and satellite telephone communications. A microwave oven, automatic rice cooker, and a breadmaker make the compact galley even more capable. |
