Mythos Expeditions Kodiak

--Fishing--

thewildcoast.com

The F/V Mythos was designed to be a commercial fishing boat and that is how she still earns part of her keep, fishing halibut and cod.

But we also take fishermen and women to remote places to sport fish as well.

It's too big, Gary, for an easy picture.

Every August we chase the coho salmon that return in such abundance to Kodiak and Afognak islands. Whether you choose to use fly fishing gear or spin fishing gear, we have some special places picked out that are truly world class fishing. In addition to the coho fishing, we also work our favoirte places for halibut, lingcod, and rockfish.

Coho Salmon

One of the most popular species to pursue are these powerful and often cagey coho salmon, which we affectionately call silvers. Caught with fly or spinner, they give a great fight, and make for wonderful eating. In saltwater, estuaries, or streams we follow their return to fresh water starting in early August through into October.

Coho are where you find them.

Halibut

Hippoglossus stenolepis, the giant Pacific halibut, is the great flounder. An active feeder, these beauties are abundant in Kodiak waters from early June through September. They can definitely put some strain on your fishing line.
