Kayaking can be central to your experience with Mythos, it can be tangential, or not at all, as you choose. If you choose to make kayaking part of your trip, we offer kayaking to experienced and inexperienced kayakers alike. It is a perfect way to experience nature up close, to travel in water too shallow or tidal for our Zodiac, and observe animals with minimal disturbance.

Kayaking with the Mythos

Kayaks can be part of nearly any Mythos charter at no extra charge. Just let us know so we can bring all the gear.

Kayak the convoluted shores of the Kodiak Archipelago or the Katmai Coast with an experienced kayak guide while traveling and living aboard the F/V Mythos in spartan but comfortable quarters.

Here at the end of the earth, you can paddle in the unspoiled wild beauty of Alaska's north gulf coast. Mythos Expeditions offers kayaking for beginner or experienced kayakers. A peak experience to be sure...references available.

We have single and double kayaks, experienced guides, and a capable sea boat to transport and house you. Leave that soggy tent behind and join Dave on the Mythos for your adventure charter to the mythological land of Kodiak or Katmai.
Guests may fly to the boat or cruise to destinations around the Shuyak, Afognak, or Kodiak Islands with the Mythos serving as your mobile lodge. The Mythos is an ideal vessel for traveling the north gulf coast, as her design and draft lets her into the many sheltered lagoons and embayments where larger vessels fear to navigate.
It is in these special protected places where we can disembark our kayaks and clients for their further adventures afloat.

Shuyak Island State Park Kayak Rentals

Mythos Expeditions has kayaks available at Shuyak Island State Park.

Kayaks are available to lease for Shuyak Island State Park paddlers, three day minimum. In 2003, we are providing at least four Necky doubles and two Necky singles at Shuyak Island State Park. Paddles, spray skirts, pfds, pumps, and sponges are supplied. Our kayak offerings may change as the spring of 2004 progresses, call or email for updates.

A lease agreement, acknowledgement of risk form for each paddler, and major credit card are required for security deposit. These kayaks book up early so call for reservations.
