Brave Heart Volunteers hosts two annual trainings to volunteers and community members. In addition, we are happy to invite Sitkans to special tranings and presentations when they occur.

Twice a year, we host a Volunteer Orientation, which prepares future volunteers for visiting care-receivers here in Sitka. Several local professionals assist with this training, and it is usually done over a weekend.

We also host an annual Compassionate Care at End-Of-Life course, which prepares volunteers and community members alike for caring for a loved one at the end. Some of the topics covered in this training include: personal death awareness, medical ethics and pain management, hospice philosophy and local community resources. This is another training supported by the assistance of local professionals and community members.
