Mark grew up on the Arctic coast of Alaska, learning to appreciate Alaska and all her beauties. He was tutored by some of the most experienced Alaska Native elders and senior master guides of this century. Mark helped operate a registered guide service and commercial fishing operation with his wife and young family for many years on the North Slope and in the Brooks Range. He has traveled extensively on the ice pack and tundra of the Arctic, and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Although Mark spent many hours flying his PA-12 Piper airplane, he fondly remembers traveling in skin boats.

While living in the Arctic, they lived a year round subsistence lifestyle: commercial fishing through the ice with nets in the fall, ordering food and supplies once a year. Time spent gathering driftwood for heating the house, chopping and melting ice for water, hunting caribou, moose, sheep and other wild game of the area kept them busy. Their two children, Marwan and Marita, were born while living there.

Mark and Denise and family moved to Fairbanks in 1977 to further their children's education. Mark owns and runs a construction company with his brother, Eldon, in Fairbanks.

Mark welcomes the chance to share his vast knowledge of Prince William Sound with you. His 17+ years of boating and fishing experience out of Valdez will help him ensure that your experience is the best that it can be! All Aboard the Ivory Gull!
