Eclipse in

The days were HOT!! Temps about 110 degrees, 70% Humidity. The islands themselves were worse. The nights cooled to a "mellow" 95. The water was bathtub warm so no relief there. Would we do it again?...We're on our way!

We had done our homework and found the exact coordinates of the centerline of the eclipse. This would be the best viewing spot in all the world. The bad news was that this spot lay in waters restricted by the Ecudorean Government. The good news was that our Captain was friends with the Government official charged with enforcement and we received Special dispensation to be there! The skies cleared and we were all treated to a most spectacular celestial event. Awesome in its truest sense.

The rest was fantastic too...

"Words cannot describe all the wonders contained in these scorched lands..."

Both land and the deep blue held wonders that we were simply not prepared for.

Baby turtle rescue on private land. No one is allowed on the islands after 6 PM but again our Captain came through and we were able to make land fall at the Military base there just as these baby turtles were hatching. The girls did well at respecting the course of nature while guiding the youngsters to the sea.

The trip to Galapagos fulfulled yet another life long dream. No wonder we look so darn happy...
