Landscape Architecture

Margaret in a landscape
she designed for the new
Juneau Police Station.

Landscape Architecture encompasses the design and creation of outdoor environments, and extends into partnership with forestry, fish and game management, habitat restoration and creation, power line and utility corridor construction, and remote resort design.

Margaret Tharp is our landscape architect. She began her landscape architecture studies at the University of Oregon in 1972. She has always been just a little ahead of the curve, and her thesis, Salvage and Reuse of the Native Landscape in Juneau, Alaska (University of Oregon 1988), was recognized as a groundbreaking work.

Margaret has designed many local residential properties, and much of Juneau's urban core development is based on her design proposals. Hundreds of local property owners can testify that an hour of her time has opened their eyes to unimagined potential. Contact her through Landscape Alaska for landscape design or consultation services.
