I have observed over the years that most
of the projects that I embark upon end up presenting me with
challenges I hadn't expected. That may or may not mean
that I am either a slow-learner or just plain unlucky.
Not all the time, but just enough to be noticeable. Like
the time I had all the lumber delivered to the Ellensburg
cabin site at elevation 4000 in anticipation of a leisurely
construction project during the warm fall days of Eastern
Washington. Wouldn't you know an untimely blizzard would
show up and blanket all that lumber with three feet of snow
and resulted in an
