Matthew 28:18
........ go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you; and surely I will be with you always, to the end of the age.
HISTORY.....
Alaska Christian Television Services
to Villages (ACTS-TV) was first established in
1977 in an attempt to meet the spiritual and educational needs of Native American Families
throughout rural Alaska. Severe weather, rugged terrain, as well as innumerable cultural
and language barriers, has long served to effectively isolate these precious people;
especially in terms of spiritual outreach and education. Through the efforts of ACTS-TV,
many Indian and Eskimo Christians have been allowed to communicate their testimonies
and love for Jesus to one another through both aired programming and video. ACTS-TV
is now joined by other missions and various secular organizations such as schools to
produce and distribute, high impact, relevant material of both an inspirational and
informational nature.
MISSION SERVICES Monthly Program
Each month, the staff of Acts-TV produces or acquires two hours of national and locally
produced programming relevant to the needs of Southeast Alaska.
ACTS-TV staff members provide short inspirational chats with a
contemporary message that is broadcast daily on KSCT-TV in Sitka.
ACTS-TV staff members will also
assist in many other church-related capacities. Further, they will provide various
instructional training and materials for any isolated church staff upon request. Travel to
the various villages will take the form of ferry, jet, float planes or a combination there
of.
ACTS-TV has established a A free-loan library containing over 300
Christian videotapes from a variety of sources. These programs are available to viewers in
large and small communities of Alaska.
ACTS-TV also cooperates with service organizations such as Sitka Teen
Resource Center as they attempt to deal with topics such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy,
and crime.
Newsletter
Acts-TV hopes to produce and distribute a monthly newsletter to many Southeast Alaska
youth groups and churches. The newsletter will contain inspirational articles as well as a
Bible Study, quiz, and other items of area information.
Alaska Video Institute
Over 60,000 Eskimos and Indians live in both the larger and smaller Alaska communities.
The people located throughout this vast, but isolated land need exposure to the Gospel at
a level they can understand and incorporate into their lives. Alaska Video Institute has
established a plan to provide interesting and informative Christian family training
throughout Alaska and Northwest Canada. The institute plans to offer a unique Bible Study
program designed for first Americans in rural villages throughout Southeast Alaska. The
program will be offered via computer, videotape, itinerant pastors and on location
instructors. Participants are provided with Bibles when necessary and copies of the audio
visual material when appropriate. Continued study is available and encouraged.
ACTS-TV is a small mission with a large goal of reaching out to thousands
needing to know more about our Lord. All full-time staff must in faith raise their own
support and depend upon the Lord to provide their needs. Video production is of course a
major mission cost as well. By God's grace, every dollar received is matched by
North Star Television Network in staff time, equipment, and broadcast time.
