Only 17 air miles from Juneau, but a world away, lies Funter Bay, one of the largest protected anchorages on the west coast of Admiralty Island. Ninety percent of the island is a wilderness area now called by its original Indian name, Kootznoowoo, Tlingit for "Fortress of the Bears."

Admiralty Island Homestead offers you the opportunity to visit Funter Bay and enjoy extraordinary wildlife viewing, whale watching cruises, sport fishing, and awe-inspiring walks through the rainforest.
