HOW TO GET TO YAKUTAT
With no roads into
Yakutat most visitors arrive by air. The village is also served by the
Alaska ferry system, but the schedule is limited and books up very
quickly for transporting vehicles to Yakutat (Check with the Alaska
Marine Highway online for detailed information). Unlike many rural
Alaskan destinations, the service offered by Alaska Airlines makes it
easy to plan your travel. Alaska Airlines serves Yakutat with two daily
flights on Boeing 737s. Yakutat is the smallest village with this level
of customer service and quality jet service.

-Flight #61 leaves from Seattle in the
morning and arrives in Yakutat after a stop in Juneau just before lunch.
-Flight#66 routes from Anchorage in
mid-afternoon arriving in Yakutat after a stop in Cordova in late
afternoon.
Routing through
Anchorage will often allow travelers coming from further away than
Washington State to arrive in Yakutat with only one day of travel.
Arriving on the early flight and/or leave on the late flight gain time
for more enjoying experiencing Yakutat.

Travelers by boat or
float plane can moor and purchase fuel in Yakutat. The Yakutat city boat
harbor is located in a protected bay North of the town and has a float
plane dock available. Contact the Yakutat Harbormaster at 907-784-3491
to arrange for moorage at the harbor. Limited additional moorage is
available at Leonard’s Landing Lodge located in the same harbor,
907-784-3245. To purchase fuel in Yakutat, contact Delta Western at
907-784-3311 (M-F, 8-5. Outside of those hours $100 call out fee
applies). Ask the Delta Western representative where to dock for
fueling.
Visitors arriving by
private plane can contact the FBO at the Yakutat Lodge located adjacent
to the tarmac at the Yakutat airport. The phone number is 907-784-3232.
Transient parking on the tarmac is free and plentiful on the far side of
the hangar from services. The Yakutat Lodge has parking available in
front of the lodge and hangar space as well for travelers utilizing the
services the lodge has to offer. Yakutat Lodge can provide catering,
parking, maintenance, and other services as well. Avgas and jet a fuel
are available self-serve or for a fee a truck will deliver it.
