Ok... here is a brief summary of the New Year so far!
Feb 1, 2000-We did not get stranded in Ecuador as some of us had hoped. The trip was great and the Galapagos were stunning. Check back for some awesome photos, Jane is such a GREAT photographer. In the meantime this is one of MY favorites of some friends. As for the rest of our stay, despite the threat of imminent volcanic eruptions, national strikes, terrorist threats and runaway inflation we had a very wonderful time deep in the Amazonian lowlands where we saw MANY of my life wish animals; pink river dolphins, Cock o'the Rock, 5 species of monkey, umbrella birds, nun birds, thousands of new insects and HUNDREDS of one of my all time favorite birds, the hoatzin.
Update June 6, 2000- Man! It's been a while! A whirlwind of a Spring that seemed
to pounce on us finds we three here in the glorius loooong days
of June. The moose are still cutting
through the yard and more songbirds are warbling away. It is GRAND!
Jane and I even found a moment to go Kayaking across the bay!
Life's good.
Here are a few Bullet points on our current status. Be sure to let us know what YOU are up to too!!
DeWaine has a few part-time jobs; at the Boy's and Girl's club, at the Community Mental Health Center, Federal Census Enumerater, volunteer guiding across the Bay for the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies as well as continuing with some design projects for Spineless Wonders. He also took time out for a bear hunt.
Jane is the Full-time Manager at the local Elks Lodge where she is worshiped as the coordinating goddess that she is. She was the City coordinator for the Earth Day celebration (fantastic event by the way) and is also consulting for the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies for curriculum writing.
Zoe has finally discovered the Fort making potential in our back yard and is busy READING, READING, READING. She has also discovered the joys of fishing and tide pooling.
Moose and coyote still aggravate the dog.
That's it for now. Stop Back Again!
(For the best beds be sure to make your visiting reservations early!!)
