Learning Benefits Us All
Brave Heart Volunteers hosts four annual trainings for interested community members. Several local professionals assist with this training, and it is usually done over a weekend.
Participants of a volunteer training will:
- Learn about all aspects of BHV including program particulars, history, mission, volunteering, documentation, insurance, cultural diversity, services, respite care, elders, impairments and disabilities, approaching death, body mechanics, infection control, emergency guidelines, confidentiality, ethical considerations, and care of the caregiver.
- Feel more comfortable regarding expectations in their new roles after the orientation.
- Gain a greater understanding of what support is available to them and where to turn if assistance is needed in their volunteer visiting.
- Receive a comprehensive training manual for specific and general reference. The manual is theirs to keep.
